Description

An excursion on Mount Etna where you can admire a splendid panorama, ancient craters, lava flows, lunar landscapes, and learn more about Etna’s history and territory.

After the hotel pick-up, you will head to Rifugio Sapienza (Etna south side), making stops at specific points of interest. The guide will introduce you to the history and territory of Etna, and you will discover the latest eruptions and the ancient Silvestri Craters.

From Rifugio Sapienza (1,920 m a.s.l.) you will decide whether to:

• Continue with a walk along one of the Etna Park trails at 2,000 meters with one of our guides.
• Choose the Etna high-altitude option by purchasing an extra: with the cable car service of the Etna Cableway, you will reach 2,504 m in about 15 minutes; from here, thanks to 4×4 off-road buses, you will reach the maximum altitudes allowed. You will be enchanted by a scenario suspended over the sea, from which you can admire the imposing central crater, the South-East crater and the older lava flows that shape the Etna landscape. With the help of Alpine Guides (Italian-English only) you can visit the areas where the volcano’s vitality emerges, in full compliance with regulations and in complete safety. You will return to Rifugio Sapienza by vehicle.

The excursion will continue with the visit to a volcanic cave with helmets and torches.

Before returning to the accommodation, you will stop at an organic production farm for a tasting of honey, wines, oils and other typical Etna products.
