ETNA TOP - SUMMIT CRATERS TREKKING

The excursion takes place in the majestic setting of Mount Etna’s summit craters.

Departure from 1,900 meters (south side of the volcano) – Nicolosi Nord – with the guide and start of the excursion. First you will use the cable car service and then 4×4 minibuses up to 2,750 meters. From there, accompanied by authorized alpine/volcanological guides, you will reach the maximum altitude permitted by the authorities (depending on volcanic activity).

At this altitude you will admire the summit and the active craters of Etna in all their spectacular grandeur (Bocca Nuova – Voragine – South-East Crater – North-East Crater) and their unique colors. During the descent it will be possible to visit areas and craters of the most recent eruptions. The descent is done on foot with the guide from the maximum permitted altitude down to 2,500 m, where you will take the cable car back to the starting point.

This excursion allows you, in a unique and impressive landscape, to reach the top of the highest active volcano in Europe in small groups.

The excursion runs by reservation every day, with favorable weather and volcano conditions; difficulty: medium/high; elevation gain: 1000 meters covered uphill/downhill by cable car and 4×4, plus 400 meters uphill entirely on foot with the guide. The route follows compact lava and sandy terrain.
